SeeingEyeDogFor decades, dogs have been used to assist people in various situations. Many people know guide dogs help to leads the blind, but there are also hearing dogs for the deaf, seizure alert dogs, emotional support dogs, dogs that help with Parkinson’s disease. There are also dogs that can alert owners of low blood sugar to help them fix the level before serious side effects develop. Dogs have even been known to help the disabled with light switches, open doors, or help a person rise from a sitting position.

Service dogs show just how smart and valuable dogs can be to humans. (If your interested in teaching a dog to assist the disabled there is alot of organizations to check into.)  Amazingly though, how dogs can say and do so much for us and yet they cannot tell us if something, or what is bothering them.  Changes in the dogs temperament, behavior, skin and / or coat are the only signs of something serious effecting your loyal friend. All dogs, especially  your little buddy at home, should be checked for signs of dog skin conditions periodically.
