dogBrushingA dogs skin and coat need to be taken care of just like you take care of your own skin. A dogs coat should be inspected regularly for matted or tangled hair. Cautious grooming can remove mats and tangles carefully and safely. If the mats are very severe, a trip to the groomer or vet may be necessary to avoid traumatizing your dog. You should also look for fleas, ticks, dandruff and any skin issues.

It’s best to start regular skin and coat care as a puppy, so they will get comfortable with the thought of grooming days.  Careful care of the skin and coat will prevent future dog skin problems. Daily brushing can release natural oils from the skin and will promote a soft and shiny coat.  A proper diet will also aid in a beautiful coat of hair and skin.
